When PayLio is hidden at checkout

The payment method only shows when it is enabled with an API key, the currency is USD, EUR, CAD, INR or GBP, and the total is between 0.01 and 10,000 and at least the minimum of the selected provider.

How an order gets paid#

  • At checkout the plugin creates a PayLio card payment and redirects the customer to the PayLio checkout. Card data never touches your shop.
  • When the payment completes, PayLio sends a signed webhook to your shop. The plugin then asks the PayLio API for the status and checks amount and currency.
  • Only then is the order or invoice marked paid, exactly once. If the order total changed in the meantime, it is put on hold with a note instead.
  • A missed webhook (downtime, firewall, Cloudflare challenge) is caught by scheduled status checks where the platform has cron. Every plugin also has an admin action Check PayLio payment status.

Back to your shop#

After paying, the PayLio checkout shows Back to your-shop.com and returns the customer to your order confirmation or invoice after 5 seconds. The plugins set this up for you. The return page checks the status itself: arriving there never marks an order paid. Building your own integration? Send returnUrl when you create the payment.

Updating from an older plugin#

  • Older WooCommerce and WHMCS modules (version 2) used your Merchant ID or email. The current plugins only need an API key: create one before you update and paste it into the settings.
  • Deactivate and remove the old version, then install the new one. Orders and invoices that were already paid are not changed.
  • Place a small test order after updating and check that it is marked paid.

Troubleshooting#

  • “Invalid API key”: the key was revoked or mistyped. Create a new one.
  • Order not updated: allow POST requests from PayLio to the plugin's webhook URL in your firewall or security plugin, then use Check PayLio payment status on the order.
  • Still stuck: enable debug logging, then contact support with the payment ID.
